Reteaching Gender and Sexuality
Via Cheryl Morgan, a group of Seattle kids who're seriously kick-ass, tackling the whole shithouse of issues surrounding gender & sexuality head-on. I love their whole "identity can't be summed up in letters" attitude. As far as I'm concerned this is what being queer is all about. This is what New Sodom is all about; these kids are fricking building it:

I applaud their courage. I'm interested to see if the "Seattle" approach works in, say, Alabama.
Your video (and some of the others on itgetsbetter.com) made me think that queer suicide is not just a direct result of external pressures such as bullying -- LGBT youth have a tough time accepting themselves, let alone receiving that acceptance from others. Low self-esteem coupled with bullying and prejudice might cause a sort of perfect storm of emotions that leads to suicide.
I think it's just as important to send the message "It's okay to be gay" -- and I think the Pixar video on itgetsbetter.com does that quite well, at the end, and also by implication -- these people work for Pixar, after all; how much more awesome does it get?
Role models are critical, and the more awesome (such as yourself) the better.
