It Gets Better
So, you may or may not have heard of the recent spate of teen suicides in the US, by kids who were suffering homophobic bullying, day in and day out, in high school. You may or may not have heard of Dan Savage's It Gets Better Project. Me, I think it's a damn fine idea and as THE.... Sodomite Hal Duncan!! I could hardly not join my voice to the chorus.
So here's my entry -- with the colourful language I think is entirely fucking apt here:
All signal boostage will be much appreciated.

I love you for your passion, and I think any 16 year old will too. Thank you for reaching out. You made me cry, and I am a middle-aged long married woman. Any kid who takes on just a little of your "fuck 'em" mentality will have the strength to see it through.
Oh, and I love your fiction as well. I found your site via Strange Horizons, and coincidentally I am halfway through Vellum, and loving it. It is tough to find unique stories these days.

Well, I've FB'd it at least. An important message.
I wrote up a post for Tor.com--it went up today.
Thank for the video. It's goddamn fantastic.
I just saw the video. I am still crying. Thank you for recording this. I'm a straight, married guy who strongly believes in equality for all, and I am saving this video for all of my friends who may need a boost of strength in their struggle. Thank you so much. Fuck it, I'm still crying.
Totally brilliant. Saw it on a friend's FB, and 4 other people immediately shared it. Best "It Get's Better" yet. EXACTLY what I could have used 20 years ago. No pasaran, motherfuckers!
This is important--so "fucking" important.

Thank you, Mr. Duncan!
Have put it up and passing it around. I think "it gets better because you are what makes it better" should probably be their next mantra.
This is what I would´ve love to hear as a teenager..... Thank you!!!
Heartfelt and unique and effective because of that, as always, Hal.
Man, I wish I'd heard that twenty years ago. The last two minutes in particular deserve a Hollywood soundtrack in the background.
LOVE that video, Hal. It struck a very deep chord. I wish I'd heard that twenty years ago as well. Not because of my sexuality, but because of having to wade through much the same shit. It's the best 'It Gets Better' video I've seen yet (it even beats the George Takei one...)
