Better To Rule In Hollywood

Fuck me if this is ain't goddamn cool and groovy:
Hollywood are making Paradise Lost, the movie!
Man, I've totally got to get me an audition,
To play Satan in the method manner; my rendition
Would, I swear to God, against all others', far excel --
Or should that be "I swear at God"? Ah... what the hell.

Go for it! (I mean, who else are they going to get, Pacino? Spare us.)

I hear Ben Afleck's looking for a hit movie... ;-)

Actually, I can just imagine the opening voiceover - by Morgan Freeman, naturally - "Of Mans First Disobedience, and the Fruit Of that Forbidden Tree, whose mortal tast
Brought Death into the World, and all our woe..."

Mind you, I can't wait how they try to CGI Hell, though - I was always taken with "a Dungeon horrible, on all sides round / As one great Furnace flam'd, yet from those flames / No light, but rather darkness visible / Serv'd only to discover sights of woe."

I mean, how the hell (sorry!) do you do "Darkness Visible"?

That’s what we need — the nature-documentary version. March of the Angels.

The problem with Pacino in Devil's Advocate was that it was such a fucking obvious choice, and such a fucking obvious performance...

Suave sophistication... check.
Brooding menace... check.
Psycho histrionics... check.

They couldn't have been more obvious, if they'd gone for Christopher Walken. No, personally, I'd cast someone who's only ever played good guys, go for that Henry Fonda in Once Upon A Time In The West effect, where he shoots the woman (or is it a kid?) and you just see his blue eyes first, then the camera pulls back and you get that "Holy fuck, it's Henry Fonda" reaction. Doesn't matter that you know he plays the villain in it; there's still a "but... but... but..." response. I'd want a latter-day Robert Redford for the role.

Fuck, though, they'll probably just get Canoe -- sorry, Keanu -- Reeves to do that "negative emoting" thing he does so well.

"Darkness Visible"... yeah, that's a tricky one. Maybe you could fuck around with making parts of the film (partly) in negative. Like flip the colours with CGI so you have black flames flickering. That could be kinda neat, I think.
